KUNDUZ - Four militants and a police officer were killed in a gunbattle outside the capital of northern Kunduz province on Sunday morning, an official said.
The clash was triggered by a Taliban attack on a security checkpoint in the Angoor Bagh area of Kunduz City, the governor’s spokesman said.
Ismatullah Muradi added four of the attackers were killed in retaliatory fire from police. The rest of rebels were forced into to fleeing, he added.
The checkpoint commander was killed and a policeman wounded in the firefight, the official said, adding a clearing operation was underway in the area. (Pajhwok)
