Strategic Partnership with US is in the Interest of Afghanistan

Decentralization of power left the only option for the resilient way out

KABUL - The newly established Afghan coalition, Afghan National Front (ANF), asked on Monday for a UN led peace process. "Lack of capacity and credibility of the present government made us to think that Afghan government led peace process can't deliver. It is not transparent, not comprehensive and lacked strategic approach" said Jawad Sultani, the Deputy Chairman of the People's Unity Party of Afghanistan.
He said that peace process can't be inclusive without the forces resisted against the Taliban rule.
He welcomed the suggestion of Michael Steiner, the Special Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany regarding the high level representation Taliban leadership in the upcoming 2nd Bonn conference on Afghanistan to be held on Decembers 5, 2011. He emphasized that the Bonn should accommodate all the domestic and regional stakeholders of this process.

"Not only should the Taliban, but the groups who fought against the Taliban during the years of resistance, also be involved in the talks."

Faizullah Zaki, spokesman for the National Front said that a long-term strategic partnership with the US would be in the interest of Afghans if the interests of all Afghan citizens, fundamental reforms in the power structure like decentralization of power as well as reforms in the electoral system are guaranteed with the good governance and fight against terrorism are ensured in the strategic agreement with the US.

The National Front of Afghanistan is formed under the leadership of Ahmad Zia Massoud, the Ex-Senior vice president and the brother of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the legendary anti Soviet/Taliban commander killed by an al Qaeda suicide bomber on September 09, 2011. The National Front comprised of Strong political parties, fought against the Taliban/al Qaeda rule till 2001.
