Some Complaints Lack Evidence to be Addressed: IECC

KABUL - The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Wednesday said some complaints from election teams could not be addressed due to lack of evidence.
Mohammad RazaFayaz, IECC deputy spokesperson, told reporters that some complaints could not be addressed due to lack of supporting evidence. He did not provide more details about the matter.
He said most of the complaints were about the difference of votes between biometric data and figures available on result sheets. “Of the four categories, the first category, which is the difference between biometric statistics and result sheets, has received a large proportion of complaints, many of which are about election violations and crimes.”
He said election teams had registered 16 types of complaints that included differences in number of biometric votes with result sheets, increasing votes of one candidate, decreasing or increasing votes in favor of a candidate, transferring votes to one candidate, early voting, after-voting, biometric voting and voiding vote for no reason.
In addition, missing of result sheets, change in result sheets after voting, doubtful votes, faults in biometric devices, complaints against illogical complains, partiality by IEC officials, counting of votes in absence of observers, fraud in the vote count process are other categories of the complaints registered.
He said the process of categorization of complaints had been completed in all provinces and currently IECC offices were busy addressing the complaints. (Pajhwok)
