KANDAHAR - After Nangarhar and Khost provinces, officials in southern Kandahar province have also banned the use of Pakistan banknotes in buying or selling.
A gathering in this regard was held at the Governor House in Kandahar City, where provincial officials, Da Afghanistan Bank representative, judicial, security, Hajj and Religious Affairs Department officials and Ulema were present.
Addressing the event, Governor Hayatullah Hayat said set a two-week deadline and said after two weeks anyone who used Pakistani rupee in buying or selling would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He directed the Municipality to work on new price lists in afghanis so people could get aware and start the use of local currency instead of Pakistani banknotes.
The governor asked the Da Afghanistan Bank to promote the use of local currency through advertisement so that it could be distributed among different institutions.
