AIBAK - Eleven Taliban militants have been killed during a clash with the security personnel in the Dara-i-Sauf Payeen district of northern Samangan province, an official said on Saturday.
Police spokesman Munir Rahimi told Pajhwok Afghan News the security forces conducted clearing operations in parts of the district late on Friday night.
He said 11 Taliban rebels, including their military chief for the district, were eliminated and another two wounded in the operation in Ahangaran area.
However, a resident who wished to go unnamed said two fighters, including Maulvi Badar, the military head, were killed.
He said four security forces were also wounded while a fifth was killed in the clash. The Taliban, however, have not yet commented on the firefight. (Pajhwok)
