Ghani Warns Taliban of Facing Same Fate as Daesh

KABUL - Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday warned the Taliban they would face same fate as Daesh militant group, which he said, was obliterated in its eastern stronghold Nangarhar province.
“Taliban should consider whether they could make this hero nation surrender through violence,” Ghani said at concluding ceremony of the First Women Peace and Security Conference in defense ministry. “You would only encourage people to deal with you the same you as they did with Daesh.”
“You should understand that you are not facing a weak government and a weak nation, but a strong government, resolute defense and security forces and a nation which has national will and wants welfare and development.”
Ghani said that peace is the desire of every Afghan, but noted that they want that peace which brings “security, stability, development and brotherhood.”
He also reiterated that women’s rights will not be compromised in peace talks.
The president said that peace doesn’t belong to a political party or an ethnic group, but to all Afghans.
In his speech, Ghani also emphasized on rule of law and said that no one can threaten it.
“We obey the law and perform our duties based on law,” Ghani said. “One should understand that this country is not a country where they could threaten and coerce people into compromise.” (TOLO NEWS)
