UN Shocked at Worker Killing in Kabul Attack

KABUL - The United Nations has condemned the killing of its worker and injuries to two others in an attack in Kabul.
One person was killed and five others injured in a bomb attack on a UN vehicle in the capital on Sunday evening.
Nasrat Rahimi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, said the blast happened at around 6:20pm in limits of the ninth police district.
In a statement, the UN extended its deepest condolences to the victim’s family.
“No further information about the identity of our international colleague who was killed, nor of those injured -- an Afghan and another international colleague -- will be released in the immediate future,” it said.
The UN condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms, asking Afghan authorities to swiftly investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The government also denounced the terrorist attack on UN staff. “The heinous attack is utterly condemnable. We offer our condolences to the family and friends of the victim.”
The EU mission, US and British embassies in Kabul and UNAMA also condemned the attack and extended condolences to the families of the victim and the injured. (Pajhwok)
