KABUL - A total of 1,737,078 million votes were recorded using biometric verification machines in 85 percent of polling stations in Afghanistan, data from the country's election commission suggests.
The Independent Election Commission has previously said that 2.7 million votes were recorded in the September 28 presidential election. It has said that it will not validate ballots cast without biometric verification.
Speaking at a press conference in Kabul, IEC officials said that biometric data from 22,588 polling stations had been uploaded.
Data from the remaining 3,980 polling stations will be uploaded in a day or two, they said. (1TV News)
