12 Taliban Red Unit Members Killed in  Nangarhar Raids

JALALABAD - At least a dozen Taliban Red Unit fighters have been killed during an airstrike and shelling in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban Red Unit members were killed as shelling and an airstrike in the Wazir Tangi area of Khogyani district.
He said three vehicles of the militants were also destroyed during the raids.
Meanwhile, Maj. Mohammad Haroon Yusufzai, spokesman for the 201st Selab Military Corps, said seven members of the Taliban Red Unit were killed in shelling in Wazir Tangi area while another five militants were killed in an airstrike in the Miagan area of the district.
The Taliban have not yet commended on the incidents.
Elsewhere, the security forces arrested three individuals with 198 kilograms of drugs in Rodat and BatiKot districts and in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Police spokesman Mubariz Atal said the detainees were currently under interrogation. They will be referred to judicial organs for further action. (Pajhwok)
