Afghan, Pak, Chinese FMs Meet in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD - Foreign ministers from Afghanistan, China and Pakistan are set to meet on trilateral cooperation in Islamabad yesterday.
The third round of China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue is taking place at the Foreign Office.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi would chair the meeting, which will also be attended by his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and Salahuddin Rabbani of Afghanistan.
“The agenda focuses on political relations and the peace process, security, counter-terrorism and development cooperation,” the Foreign Office in Islamabad said.
The dialogue was established in 2017 as a means of trilateral cooperation on issues of mutual interest, with particular focus on cooperation on economic development and peace.
The first meeting was held in Beijing in 2017 and the second in Kabul in December 2018. The dialogue provides an opportunity for political cooperation on facilitating the Afghan peace and reconciliation process.
“Pakistan attaches importance to the dialogue as a part of political trust-building, development and cooperation and connectivity leading to greater understanding on issues of common concern,” the Foreign Office added. (Pajhwok)
