‘40 Rebels Held in Kandahar Before Entering Pakistan’

KANDAHAR CITY - Intelligence forces arrested 40 militants involved in terrorist activities in several provinces when they wanted to travel to Pakistan from southern Kandahar province, the governor said on Saturday.
Governor Hayatullah Hayat told reporters in Kandahar City, the provincial capital, that the detained individuals wanted to travel to Pakistan for more training after subversive activities in different provinces.
He said the 40 armed men were involved in terrorist activities in Zheri, Panjwai, Maiwand, Arghandab districts of Kandahar and Badghis, Jawzjan and Maidan Wardak provinces and were arrested in Spin Boldak border town when they planned to go back to Pakistan.
NDS Director for Kandahar Barakatullah Chamkani said some districts of Kandahar recently witnessed several deadliest attacks.
He alleged all these attacks were planned across the Durand Line and currently some militants were even forcibly sent to the battlefield.
The detained militants were paraded at the press conference and they acknowledged their involvement in subversive activities in some provinces and said they were traveling to Pakistan for advance training.
The NDS personnel had detained a number of rebels earlier saying they were involved in terrorist and criminal activities. (Pajhwok)
