EU Back Afghan Owned, Led Reconciliation Process

KABUL - The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Afghanistan Perri Mayodin has held a meeting with High Peace Council (HPC) Chairman Umar Daudzai and reaffirmed EU support to Afghan lead and owned peace process, according to a statement on Wednesday.
The two dignitaries discussed recent Moscow meeting and other matters related to Afghan reconciliation process, the HPC statement said.
“Efforts are on to bring together all efforts being made for peace and take steps for the follow up of the resolution passed by the Consultative Peace Jirga,” he said while referring to the future engagements of the HPC.
Daudzai said that Germany, a member of the EU, was ready to offer more support to the peace process while India held great stance regarding the creation of regional consensus on Afghan peace and reconciliation.
The EU envoy praised the efforts of the HPC and reaffirmed his support to Afghan owned and led peace and reconciliation process. (Pajhwok)
