Khalilzad Briefs Swaraj on  Afghan Peace Process

KABUL - Top Indian and US officials have conferred on the role of regional stakeholders in bringing peace and development to Afghanistan.
At a meeting in New Delhi on Monday, US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad briefed External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the Afghan peace process.
According to the foreign ministry in New Delhi, India will work with key regional and international partners on ending the 18-year conflict in Afghanistan.
The Asian Age quoted External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar as saying the two sides discussed the role of regional stakeholders in stabilising Afghanistan.
The US diplomat has been meeting Taliban representatives in Doha to work out an agreement on bringing stability to Afghanistan.
"Appreciate Amb @US4Afghan Peace Khalilzad briefing EAM @SushmaSwaraj on peace efforts in Afghanistan in midst of ongoing Doha meetings,” the spokesperson tweeted.
“Both discussed role of all regional stakeholders in bringing peace & development in Afghanistan. India will work with key partners in days ahead," Kumar wrote.
The US, Russia, Iran and other powers have been reaching out to the Taliban to push the Afghan peace drive. India has been a key stakeholder in reconciliation in Afghanistan. (Pajhwok)
