KABUL - Wolesi Jirga Secretary Khuda-i-Nazar Nasrat, who was accused of embezzlement two years back, has sent his resignation to the secretariat from India.
Rahimullah Ghalib, Wolesi Jirga’s deputy secretary, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News that Nasrat had stepped down as head of the lower house secretariat.
The official said that Nasrat had sent his resignation letter from India, saying he could not continue his job due to personal problems and illness.
About rumors that Nasrat had sought refuge in the US, Ghalib said: “I’m unaware of his arrival in the US. To my information, he has gone to India and has sent his resignation from there.”
Earlier, Wolesi Jirga Deputy Speaker Humayoon Humayoon had accused Nasrat of embezzlement and introduced him to the Attorney General Office (AGO) for investigations. (Pajhwok)
