KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met with a number of political figures and former jihadi leaders and discussed the peace process, an official said.
Presidential spokesman Mohammad Haroon Chakahnsori told Pajhwok Afghan News President Ghani held talks with ex-president Hamid Karzai, Ustad Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyab, second vice-president Sarwar Danish, High Peace Council (PHC) chief Karim Khalili, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
He added during the meeting the political figures offered their views regarding the ongoing peace negotiations and the meeting stressed lasting peace in the country.
The meeting comes ahead of US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad arrival in Kabul for consultations on the Afghan peace process.  (Pajhwok)
