The United States strongly condemns the attack at a gathering commemorating the life of Afghan leader Abdul Ali Mazari in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood of Kabul today.  We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.  This shameless act of terrorism reveals the cowardice and cruelty of those who perpetuate violence in Afghanistan.  The United States stands with the people and government of Afghanistan in their fight against terrorism and we remain steadfast in our commitment to support the cause of peace.
