In 3 Days, No One Registers  as Presidential Candidate: IEC

KABUL - Thirty-nine persons have so far obtained presidential election related information bundles but no one has registered his/her candidacy on the day third of candidate registration on Monday, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) said.
According to the schedule, the registration of presidential candidates has begun from December 22 and will continue until January 2, 2019.
Deputy IEC spokesman Mohammad Haqparast said the distribution of presidential election information bundles to presidential hopefuls was started on Wednesday and so far 39 persons have received these bundles.
He expressed the hope that in the coming days some individuals who had obtained the bundles might come and register themselves as candidates.
He said today Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat, technical secretary information technology. and four others obtained the information bundles.
Earlier, Anwarul Haq Ahadi, Noorul Haq Ulumi, Hakem Torsan, Hidayatullah Hafeez, Rahman Liwal, Rahmatullah Nabil, Shaida Abdali and some other personalities had obtained the information bundles.
A preliminary list of presidential runners will be announced on January 8. Each wannabe is required to be a Muslim citizen of Afghanistan and have attained the age of 40 years.
Every candidate should have 100,000 stickers, should not have a criminal record, or involvement in human rights violations, civil rights. The payment of a million afghanis is among the conditions. (Pajhwok)
