KABUL - Afghan National Army’s women cadets are undergoing a target-shooting course at the Officers Training Academy in India, a media report said on Thursday.
A team of 19 female officers are undergoing the training, part of the Afghan National Army's efforts to recruit more women. The officers receive weapons and tactical training at the academy.
The Hindu reported the trainees were also given lessons in leadership and human resource management during the month-long course, which would end on December 26.
On Wednesday, the shooting range at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) near Alandur in Chennai echoed with gunfire, following commands in Dari language.
“The group of 19 women officers has successfully undergone four weeks of military training at the OTA. They have been training here since November 26,” the newspaper said.
For the second consecutive year, ANA;s women officers have undergone training at the academy. In 2017, 19 women army officers from Afghanistan took part in a three-week programme. (Pajhwok)
