EU Ready  to Help Afghans Achieve Peace: Envoy

KABUL - The European Union on Thursday it was ready to help Afghanistan achieve peace and stability.
EU ambassador in Kabul Pierre Mayaudon made the assurance during a meeting with Afghanistan National Security Advisor Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, a statement from the NSA office said.
The European Union Head of Delegation said the union was ready for cooperation with the people and the government of Afghanistan in achieving peace and stability.
The statement said Mohib talked about intra-Afghan talks and new mechanisms for peace negotiations with the Taliban. He said the people of Afghanistan wanted durable and permanent peace and the peace process would remain Afghan led and Afghan owned.
Besides discussing the peace process, the two sides also exchanged views regarding the security situation in Afghanistan and the joint fight against terrorism, the statement said. (Pajhwok)
