Measures to Control Drought in 6 Months

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday emphasized on a national dialogue over water management in Afghanistan and said comprehensive measures would be taken to reduce the country’s drought over the next six months.
The president said this while talking to a number of youth from capital Kabul at his office on Friday evening, according to a statement from the Presidential Palace.
The statement received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the Kabul youth discussed problems Kabul residents faced with the president for solution.
The youth shared problems and suggestions regarding urban management, shortage of water, governance, narcotics, citizen rights, security, migration, environment and urban economic development of the Kabul zone.
After listening to the youth, President Ashraf Ghani thanked them for identifying problems of Kabul zone and said: “You have my full support, you as responsible citizens have created a national conversation and provided constructive views.”
Ghani said ways would be explored to implement the youth’s suggestions and enough capacity created in this regard.
“The views of the Afghan youth should not be for short term but for at least 50 years so it could bring a generational change, I as a bridge would shift authority and power to you,” he said.
He added there were a limited number of people who used national interests in their own interest.
Ghani termed the country’s water management an important issue which he said needed a national conversation.
The president also said measures for reducing drought in the country would be implemented in the next six months.
On the other hand, Ghani said a good opportunity for ending the four-decades-old Afghan conflict was available and those questioning the upcoming elections were actually questioning the future of the Afghan future generations. (Pajhwok)
