Muslimyar Stoutly Supports  China’s Belt and Road Project

KABUL - Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar has asked the Chinese leadership to give special importance to Afghanistan’s geo-political position under the Belt and Road project, an official said on Saturday.
Ziaur Rahman Zia, head of Muslimyar’s office, told Pajhwok Afghan News the senate chairman expressed the view during a meeting with Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Han Zheng.
The Senate chairman, currently on an official visit to China to take part in the Sixth Asia-Europe exhibition, said the two countries had have agreed on improving bilateral cooperation.
There was consensus between the two nations on regional issues, he said, hailing Beijing’s policy on the Afghan peace process.
He also asked his hosts to exercise their political influence on Pakistan and convince it into playing a sincere role in the Afghan peace effort.
He asked the Chinese deputy prime minister to help provide more incentives to Afghan traders in China. He stressed the implementation of an agreement on the export of Afghan pine nuts to China.
“We assured the Chinese government of full support for the Belt and Road project and asked them to give special importance to the geo-strategic location of Afghanistan,” he added.
The Chinese deputy prime minister termed the participation of Muslimyar in the exhibition a positive move towards stronger bilateral relations between the two countries.
He assured the Chinese government would provide access to Afghan products such as pine nuts and saffron to Chinese markets. (Pajhwok)
