Atmar, Russian  Envoy Discuss Ceasefire with Taliban

KABUL - National Security Advisor (NSA) Hanif Atmar on Sunday discussed the Afghan government’s plan to announce a second ceasefire with the Taliban during a meeting with Russian ambassador to Afghanistan.
Qadir Shah, spokesman to the National Security Council (NSC), told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Russian envoy, Alexander Mantytskiy, met  with Atmar and both discussed bilateral security cooperation and expansion of economic relations between the two countries.
They also discussed how to advance the peace and reconciliation process and exchanged views on several key issues of mutual interest, Shah said.
Atmar talked about a possible truce between the government and the Taliban and said living in peace was every Afghan’s hope and the government was responsible to take steps towards achieving the public demand.
Ambassador Alexander Mantytskiy supported the Afghan government’s efforts regarding the peace process and assured Afghanistan of Moscow’s comprehensive support in expanding bilateral security and economic cooperation. (Pajhwok)
