Afghan Mines Conference to Open in London

KABUL - A big conference on Afghan mines is due to open this year in London that will be attended by key investors of the world, mines officials said.
Officials said the conference due on June this year will focus on four huge mines, including fuel, lithium, gold and copper.
"Afghan government in cooperation with Britain will call in a huge conference on mines in late June and I predict participation of hand-picked and famous world investors in the conference," Mines Minister Wahidullah Shahrani said.

Officials said this is the best opportunity to have Afghanistan's mines on display and let the world know about mines capacities in this part of the world.
They believe that investment in the mines could end up substantially fruitful to economy.
Meanwhile, the ministry announced that Turkish investors have shown interest to invest in Afghan mines.

More than 25 Turkish investors are presently in Kabul looking into ways to invest in mines in particular in copper deposits and oil fields, mines officials have said.
Turkey is considered one of the biggest industrial countries and has long cooperated with the Afghan government to build fundamentals and improve social life.
Using Afghan mines capacities to increase government incomes, the government has planned to put oil fields on tender, officials have said.

Last week a number of Italian investors also visited Afghanistan in a bid to invest in a marble mine located in western Herat province.
