Operations in  Af-Pak Border Areas  to be Coordinated

PESHAWAR - Islamabad has promised efforts at enhanced coordination with Kabul as part of a renewed push to boost bilateral relations.
“It is an achievement as we were able to break the inertia in our ministries and departments to engage more closely with Afghanistan,” a Pakistani official was quoted as saying.
Daily Times, citing the official privy to Pak-Afghan discussions in Kabul on July 22, reported: “We were able to break the inertia in our ministries and departments to engage more closely with Afghanistan.”
While reviewing the existing security situation, the two sides agreed to take additional security measures and closely coordinate ground operations in the border region.
They called terrorism a common enemy, which must be defeated through better coordination of ground operations and joint efforts to weaken the extremist narrative.
The neighbours agreed jointly explore the possibility of undertake connectivity and energy projects like CPEC, TAPI, CASA 1000, Kabul-Peshawar Motorway and the Chaman-Kandahar rail track.
Plans for early and dignified return of Afghan refugees from Pakistan were also discussed at the inaugural meetings of working groups. Islamabad will host the next rounds. (Pajhwok)
