CSTC-A Pledges over  54b Afghanis to MoD

KABUL - The Combined Security Transaction Command for Afghanistan (CSTC-A) would provide 54 billion afghanis assistance to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said on Friday.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard has been signed by Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, Defence Minister Gen. Tariq Shah Bahrami and CSTC-A Commander en. Robin Fontes in Kabul read a statement from the MoF.
In line with the MoU the CSTC-A would inject over 54 billion afghanis to the ongoing year budget of the MoD.
The money would be spent on the implementation of policies implementation regarding financial management, ensuring transparency and accountability, eradication of corruption, sustainability and effectiveness of security forces.
Earlier, Hakimi and CSTC-A Commander Gen. Robin Fontes met and discussed issues relating to financing of security forces.
Both the sides discussed participating in the Afghan National Army Trust Fund in NATO Headquarters, Brussels, on behalf of the government and Oversight Coordination Board (OCB), a statement from the Ministry of Finance said.
It said Hakimi and Fontes discussed government’s part in financing and equipping security and defense forces of the country. (Pajhwok)
