Kabul, Dushanbe Confer  on Anti-Terror Measures

KABUL - National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad HanifAtmar and his Tajik counterpart have agreed on strengthening regional consensus on the fight against terrorism.
Saimumin Yatimov, head of Tajikistan’s state committee for national security, arrived in Kabul at the head of a high-level delegation, a statement from the National Security Council said on Thursday.
Yatimov shared views with Atmar on ways of boosting security on the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. They also stressed the need for regional stability.
He expressed concern about the weakness of consensus on counter-terrorism, saying cooperation among regional countries should be further cemented.
Atmar hailed the Tajik official’s trip to Kabul as significant. The Afghan forces were at the forefront in the war on terrorism to protect the region and the word at large.
The Afghan government was ready for enhanced security on the border with Tajikistan, said Atmar said, who suggested strengthening of cooperation on the issue.
He urged regional countries to support Afghan security forces, saying some terrorist groups were infiltrated into Afghanistan to disrupt its security and peace in the region.
At the meeting, an upcoming visit of senior Afghan officials to Tajikistan for talks on agreements of cooperation in various fields was also discussed. (Pajhwok)
