Over 1 Million Persons Have Registered as Voters: IEC

KABUL - Over one million people have registered themselves as voters in the country from the past 20 days, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) has said.
The voter registration process for October 20 elections kicked off on April 14 in the provincial capitals of the country.
The first phase of the voter registration would continue till May 12 in the provincial capitals, the second phase would be conducted in district centres from May 14 to 28, and the last phase would be held from May 28 to 12 June in villages and far-flung areas of the country.
IEC Head Abdul Badei Sayyad told Pajhwok Afghan News that until Thursday evening over one million eligible persons --- men and women --- had registered as voters. He said with the passage of each days more people had been coming to the registration sites.
He asked the masses to fully participate in the national process in order to be able to decide their future. (Pajhwok)
