International Islamic Moot on Afghanistan in July

KABUL - A peace delegation from Afghanistan has held talks with leadership of the Organization of Islamic Countries or OIC in Saudi Arabia besides meeting Saudi officials in Jeddah city, a source said on Friday.
Led by presidential advisor and High Peace Council (HPC) secretary Dr. Akram Khpalwak, the delegation held talks with OIC leadership and Saudi officials about Kabul’s latest peace proposal to the Taliban insurgents, a nascent civic movement demanding peace in the country and the role of the Islamic world in resolving the Afghanistan conflict.
A source in the HPC told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Afghan delegation, the OIC leadership and Saudi leaders agreed to hold an international Islamic conference on peace in Afghanistan in July this year. The source said religious scholars from across the world would attend the conference to speak about the conflict in Afghanistan.
The three sides also agreed to continue their efforts at ensuring durable peace and stability in the war-torn country. (Pajhwok)
