KABUL - Afghanistan’s national security advisor (NSA) Hanif Atmar has sought help from China in establishing “a well-equipped mountain bridge”, a statement from the NSA office said Saturday.
Atmar, who is on a two-day official visit to China, held a meeting with Chinese Army Chief Li Zuocheng and other high-ranking military officials, the statement said, adding China assured of cooperation in equipping the Afghan armed forces.
Atmar hailed China’s military cooperation with Afghanistan and termed it vital in the fight against terrorism.
He sought greater cooperation from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan as the grouping could play an effective in regional peace efforts. Atmar also termed SCO’s role as vital in strengthening the Afghan Air Force.
Li hailed the sacrifices of Afghan armed forces in the war against terrorism and added Afghan forces were fighting against terrorists of all hue and color without any differentiation between them. He showed China’s readiness to equipp the Afghan Armed forces. (Pajhwok)
