UNDP Establishes  Provincial Committee

KABUL - Provincial Committee for the United Nations Development Programs has been established in Kandahar and will be headed for the Kandahar Governor.
Kandahar Governor Office, Provincial Council, UNDP Provincial Branches, Related Government Administrations, Provincial Reconstruction Team and UNAMA are the stake holders of the committee and will discuss the importance and effectiveness of projects during the meetings.

Members of the Committee are responsible to review all the UNDP projects across the province and try to make them more efficient and useful for the community.

The first UNDP Committee Meeting was attended at the meeting hall of Kandahar Governor Office and activities reports were presented by the related branches of the UNDP.

"UNDP has implemented a big number of key projects in order to strong the governance and make the development projects more valuable. It has also supported the local government administrations to deliver best services for the people" was said in the ASGP presentation. ASGP has sent few government officials abroad and conducted a number of training back home in order to help government entities for providing people with best services.

"The establishment UNDP Provincial Committee is a solid invention in Kandahar" said Kandahar Governor Associate Professor Dr. Tooryalai Wesa. He added "UNDP is one of the biggest supporting NGOs in Kandahar and has implemented tens of development projects and provided the jobs for thousands of youths across the province".

He added that all the projects will be shared with the government entities in order to make sure the money are spent for the priorities and avoid the anarchism throughout the province.

Deputy Director of UNDP to Afghanistan said that this was the first meeting of the committee and will have the same meetings after every three months and all UNDP administrations will be participating in. (PR)
