India and Afghanistan Lay Foundation Stone for Wazir Akbar Khan National Park

KABUL - India and Afghanistan laid the foundation stone for the construction of the national park on Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan hill on Wednesday.
The national park will be built with the financial support of India on Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan hill where Afghanistan’s largest national flag was erected with the supported of India few years ago.
India will also fund the development of landscape around the national flag and will build a monument as part of its development efforts for the reconstruction of the country.
“Foundation stone was laid for the development and landscaping of the area around the flag and construction of a National Public Park and monument by Mr.Sadat Naderi Minister for Urban Development and Ambassador of India Manpreet Vohra,” according to a short online statement.
The statement further adds that India has pledged US$ 1mn for the project.
India has played a major role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban regime and has invested over $2 billion in various reconstruction and infrastructure projects.
The construction of the major Salma Dam, the new Afghan parliament building, Zaranj-Delaram highway, and some other projects are among the key investments India has done so far in the country. (KP)
