CJTF Jails 95 Officials  over Corruption this Year

KABUL - The Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) has awarded different punishments to 95 high-ranking civil and military officials in corruption cases this solar year and ordered the return of above five billion afganis, an official said on Sunday.
Jamshid Rasouli, spokesman for the Attorney General Office (AGO), told reporters here that the CJTF had addressed over 1,500 corruption cases during the ongoing year that ends on March 21.
In connection with the cases, 54 civil and military officials were put on Exit Control List (ECL) and the duties of 15 others suspended.  Of the total 1,500 cases, 135 cases belonged to CJTF in which 118 had been tried.
Of the indicted individuals, 95 civil and military men were awarded jail terms, six were fined, 17 released and the cases of another 17 being investigated.
In addition, the court has ordered the return of over one billion afghanis, $49.5 million and 300,000 Pakistani rupees in connection to these cases, said Rasouli. (Pajhwok)
