Taliban Inaugurate Township in Takhar’sDurqad District

TALUQAN - The Taliban constructed township has been inaugurated in the Durqad district of northern Takhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Col. Khalil Aseer said the Taliban inaugurated a township in the Shour Arab area of Duarqad and people had started their business there.
He said 20 shops had been constructed in the hotel and work on the construction of other shops was underway.
Shukraullah, the resident of Durqad, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Umrai Township had been constructed in the Shour area.
The township has residence, hotels, parking, health centers and other facilities.
He said the Taliban had been trying to expand the township and attract investment to the project.
Another resident of locality who wished to go unnamed said that he bought a shop at Umrai Township. “I bought land for the shop for 1,500 afghanis. Now I have constructed my shop which added to its value.”
The township had been constructed in 100 acres land, he said, adding that plots distribution will start soon.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Umraitownship had been constructed in line with the wishes of people and people had began investing in the township. (Pajhwok)
