Trump’s Tweet ‘a Positive Development’: Senators

KABUL - The Meshrano Jirga or upper house of the Parliament on Tuesday termed US President Donald Trump’s fresh warning to Pakistan as “a positive gain” and demanded his words to be translated into action.
Senate first deputy speaker Mohammad Alam Azydyar said Trump’s warning to Pakistan was “positive news” for the Afghans and demanded this policy to be continued against Pakistan.
Lawmaker Mualvi Muhiuddin Munsef said Trump knew Pakistan had not been honest in the fight against terrorism and breaded terrorism on its territory.
Lailuma Ahmadi, another lawmaker, said: “Trump’s tweet was confirmation of Afghanistan’s claims and the US president should implement his statement.”
Lawmaker Najiba Hussaini said Trump tweet was not a US policy statement and demanded his tweet to become part of the US policy on Pakistan.
Lawmaker Jumma Din Gyanwal said he did not want to welcome Trump’s statement because the Americans had never said the truth. He said they would not believe in Trump’s words until they were enforced.
Some other lawmakers also welcomed the US President’s tweet of the year.
Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar said: “Trump’s social media statement against Pakistan is a positive development for Afghanistan. It is not a simple thing that the US president has started believing that Pakistan deceives them.”
He asked Pakistan to improve relation with Kabul otherwise the neighbouring country would be isolated.
“We don’t want the Pakistan nation to suffer like Afghans suffered for 40 years. We want Pakistan to sincerely fight against terrorism so that the people of both countries can live in a peaceful environment.”
