KABUL - The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Monday announced a 50 percent cut in bank guarantee and license fee for private media outlets.
MoF spokesman Ajmal Hamid Abdul Rahimzai told a news conference here that the government endorsed the cut after being proposed by the MoF in order to strengthen and support media.
He said the decrease in bank guarantee and license fee had also been endorsed by the Cabinet.
He said the media bank guarantee regulation had been amended and would soon be published in the official gazette for enforcement.
Rahimzai further said: “Currently a media outlet provides 500,000 afghanis in bank guarantee but after the modified regulation coming into effect, the amount would be reduced to 250,000 afs.”
In November, 2017, the Cabinet approved a proposed draft of MoF exempting all periodical and non-periodical media outlets from tax. (Pajhwok)
