Afghan Forces Fighting for Global Security: Gen. Nicholson

KABUL - Afghan security forces are fighting for the security of their own people as well as the world, NATO’s top commander in Afghanistan said on Thursday.
During a meeting with the Special Police Unit officials in central Logar province, Gen. John Nicholson said the Afghan forces, besides securing their nation, were also contributing to global peace.
NATO troops would firmly fight shoulder to shoulder with their Afghan partners to counter the scourge of terrorism and stabilise the war-devastated country.
The Afghans desired peace and stability in their country, a goal that would be achieved, he said. “You haven’t lost any battle to Taliban yet and will prevail over them in future as well.”
Brig. Gen. Syed Mohammad Roshan, Special Forces commander at the Interior Ministry, said the security forces had laid down their lives in the fight against the enemy. (Pajhwok)
