Protesters Accuse Nangarhar  PC Member of Land Grabbing

JALALABAD - The residents of Surah Roud district in eastern Nangarhar province have rallied against Qahar Qader, the Provincial Council (PC) member and accused him of grabbing their lands.
The protesters gathered in front of the governor house in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, demanding his removal and chanted death to Qahar.
Rafiaullah Aziz, a tribal elder and organizer of the rally, accused the district police chief and other district personnel for their involvement in the land grabbing case.
They said the disputed land was bought by the Ghochako tribe from the Nangarhar Canalisation Department for park and cemetery.
The protesters said Qader Qahar by force grabbed the public land and constructed homes and other infrastructure.
He demanded the provincial government to resolve their issue otherwise they would move to the Presidential Palace.
The Provincial Council Head Ahmad Ali Hazrat who visited the protesters heard their complaints and assured them to resolve their issue till coming Sunday.
Governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News PC head and the administrative office head met the protesters and heard their complaints.
He said their complaints would be conveyed to the governor and then decision in this regard would be taken. (Pajhwok)
