No Group can Declare Jihad: Imam-I-Kaabah

KABUL - The Imam of Kaabah, Dr Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, has said no militant group or organization can declare jihad, which he says is the state’s job.
In an interview with a private Pakistani news channel, the prayer leader of Makkah's Grand Mosque, called sectarianism “a curse” which could be diminished by resolving mutual differences and following the 'Kalma-i-Haq'.
According to Radio Pakistan, the imam said only the state was responsible for declaring jihad, not an organisation or a group of people.
“The Holy Quran says that killing a single person without any reason is like killing the whole of humanity.”
He said jihad could only be permitted by the orders of an Islamic ruler,  adding that no organization could declare Jihad on its behalf.
He said militant groups organized under name of Islam never served the religion but they only spread terrorism.
When asked about the weakness of Islamic countries, the Imam responded even if the Islamic countries were weak and unable to properly respond to the enemy even then they were not allowed to declare Jihad. “These private organizations provide platform of interference to the enemies of Islam.” (Pajhwok)
