In Alasai District, Not a Single Girls’ School Has Building

KABUL - Not a single girls’ school has a proper building in the Alasai district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Tuesday.
Education Director Mohammad Nasim Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News there were four schools for girls in the district but all of them were without buildings.
Lack of buildings hampered girls’ education in the backward district, he acknowledged. “We have started primary and middle schools in Skeen and Ashpi valleys for girls.
“Although militants have a presence in the areas, the schools are run with the cooperation of residents. Students face huge problems in the summer and winter,” Safi added.
Shukrullah, a resident of Skeen area, said students attended their classes under trees in the summer and among rocks in the winter. The schools have seating rugs, but some students bring blankets to sit on.
District chief Ghulam Naqashbandi Safi confirmed the girls’ school problems and said he had shared the issue with higher officials many times. He complained no reconstruction project had been implemented in the province in the past five years. (Pajhwok)
