Nabil Claims He was Threatened by Stanekzai

KABUL - Former Afghan spy chief, Rahmatullah Nabil has claimed that Masoum Stanekzai the head of Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS) has threatened him against his political activities.
Nabil on Sunday claimed that he has received Stanekzai’s message via one of the agency’s top members in which he was asked to reduce the activities of Mehwar political party, chaired by him.
“Reduce the activities of Mehwar-e-Mardum-e-Afghanistan, otherwise, we will make a case against you over the documents involving Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency (ISI) which were leaked by you via media last year,” Nabil wrote in a Facebook post.
Calling the National Unity Government “imperfect”,  Nabil also stated that the NDS chief should drive out the Pakistani ISI-linked figures within the system, instead of making “conspiracy” against him.
In response to Nabil’s remarks, the NDS has not reacted to so far.
Some Afghan analysts, however, say the political parties which are being registered at the Justice Ministry, are allowed to continue to its political campaigns.  But “if the parties’ activities contrary to law and against the national interests then legal actions must be taken against them,” said Mohmmadullah Babrak, a political analyst.
The Mehwar political party was formed in July as opposition party that consists of over 70 members in leadership council including former top government officials. (ATN)
