Senators Call for ‘Prompt Execution’ of Anas Haqqani, Imprisoned Militants

KABUL – Afghan senators on Sunday called for “prompt execution” of Anas Haqqani and other imprisoned militants, as violence has been sharpened in the country since last week.
In order to improve the current security situation, the government should take practical steps, the senators said. Adding that the prisoners of the militant groups should be “executed” in revenge for innocent lives that died in flames of recent deadly attacks.
“Government should have similar actions against militants attacks and  execute the prisoners of the terror groups so that we could take revenge of the [recent] bloodshed,” said Nesar Haris, a member of Meshrano Jirga (Senate House).
The Chairman of the Senate, meanwhile, stressed on execution of Anas Haqqani – son of Jalaluddin Haqqani, the founder of Pakistan-based Haqqani Network that responsible for some deadly attacks in Afghanistan.
“We want execution of all prisoners of the Taliban including Anas Haqqani,” said Chairman of  the Senate House Fazl Hadi Muslimyar.  “The three courts order are against him [Anas] and he should be executed in order to stop the crimes.”  
Anas was being held by the Afghan government in 2014 and a court reportedly sentenced him to death last year. (ATN)
