Will Never Allow Afghanistan Become Syria: Khalili

KABUL - Chairman of the High Peace Council Mohammad Karim Khalili on Sunday stressed over peace and stability in the country and said that Afghanistan would not be allowed to become second Syria as efforts for proxy war on Afghan soil were being made.
Addressing a huge gathering marking the Ashura Day here he said unity, harmony were the messages of Imam Hussain and Afghanistan needed the two things the most in present circumstances.
He said: “We should strengthen the unity of Afghanistan Muslim nation that no power from inside or outside the country will dare to harm it. He called on his supporters to use the Ashura day to further strengthen unity and harmony among Muslims.
Referring to the ongoing conflict in the country, Khalili said it was not a war among Afghans but it was imposed on Afghans and hoped the nation would overcome the current difficult situation as it emerged victorious after Jihad.
“Key to success during Jihad was our unity. Pashton, Tajik, Uzbek, Turkmen, Shia and Sunni all were brothers and fought from the same trenches during Jihad which result in historic victory,” he believed.
The HPC chairman stressed over reconciliation and said all efforts would be made to end the conflict and establish peace and stability in the country.
“Afghanistan would become second Syria if fighting continues and doesn’t end. We don’t want Afghanistan to become second Syria and will not allow this,” he said.
He also stressed over reforms in the government system. “We should support the national unity government until it completes legal tenure and should refrain from political instability,” he said. (Pajhwok)
