Pak FM to Meet President Ghani in US

PESHAWAR - Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said he plans to meet President Ashraf Ghani.
The minister, who recently visited several regional countries, would also hold talks with other international leaders during his upcoming visit to the US.
Last week, Kh. Asif delayed his meeting with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Pakistan also scrapped a visit of Alice Wells, acting assistant secretary of state for South Asian, to Islamabad.
In August, President Donlad Trump's allegations that Pakistan was still harbouring Afghan insurgents offended Islamabad. Pakistan asked the US to change its "do more" policy.
On Wednesday, the minister told Geo News that China, Iran and Turkey had acknowledged Pakistan's sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
He claimed the regional countries assured full support for Pakistan's stance on a politically-negotiated settlement of the Afghan conflict instead of increasing troops levels.
All countries desired peace in Afghanistan and were willing to help efforts for the stability in Afghanistan, said Kh. Asif, who briefed Prime Minister Khaqan Abbasi on the conflict. (Pajhwok)
