Mirzawlang: Rebels Regain Control of Most Parts

SAR-I-PUL - Militants have once again captured most parts of the Mirzawlang area of the Sayyad district in northern Sar-i-Pul province, a credible source claimed on Wednesday.
A government official, who wished to go unnamed, confided to Pajhwok Afghan News that militants launched assaults on security forces in the area at night.
Major parts of Mirzawlang fell to the insurgents on Wednesday morning when the security forces retreated to the western part of the area, he said. Pajhwok tried to contact other officials comment, but failed.
Mirzawlang was overrun by the militants on August 4 when 50 civilians were reportedly killed. However, the area was recaptured by the Afghan forces on Aug 14.
The security forces and local residents on Tuesday recovered 39 bodies from two mass graves in the area. The individuals were killed by the militants during clashes on August 4. (Pajhwok).
