Funeral Attack: Neglectors  to Face Justice: NSC

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday said those who had committed negligence in preventing yesterday’s triple suicide attack on the funeral ceremony for a lawmaker’s son in Kabul should be dealt with seriously and brought to justice.
President Ghani, who chaired a National Security Council (NSC) session at the Presidential Palace before noon, said needs of the families of those injured should be addressed and all facilities at hand should be used to treat the wounded of the incident.
The funeral prayer for Salem Ezedyar was attacked in Badam Bagh area of Kabul on Saturday, killing at least seven people and injuring another 119.
Ezedyar’s son was killed along with several others during Friday’s protest demonstration. Three explosions took place at the funeral attended by government officials and parliament members.
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said Farid Hamidi, the Attorney General; told the NSC meeting that his office had created an investigative team for investigating the incident.
The statement quoted him as saying the incident would be investigated from different dimensions and seriously.
The NSC meeting also conferred on preparations for the Kabul Process conference to be hosted by Afghanistan and attended by international authorities and representatives. (Pajhwok)
