FARAH CITY - An investigation into the explosion in the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) compound in western Farah province has been launched, officials said on Sunday
The explosion occurred late on Saturday when unidentified men lobbed a hand grenade into the PRT building, Deputy Governor Mohammad Younus Rasuli told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Gen. Abdul Samad, the provincial intelligence chief, said three employees of the PRT were slightly injured in an ensuing short circuit.
As PRT Civilian Secretary Feroz denied the blast, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the remote-controlled bomb attack in front of the International Relief and Development office.
Rebel spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said five foreign workers of the organisation were killed and four others injured.
