Some Taliban Circles Ready to Reconcile: HIA

KABUL - Some Taliban’s political circles have contacted the Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan to join the peace process, a spokesman for the Gulbadin Hekmatyar-led party said on Sunday.
HIA spokesman Qarib Rahman Saeed told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban’s circles who had contacted the HIA were inside and outside of the country.
He said the Taliban had contacted the HIA to benefit from its peace agreement with the government in joining the peace process.
Saeed said the HIA could take responsibility for the reconciling Taliban and was ready for cooperation. However, he did not go into details.
The HIA spokesman said some Taliban groups had realized the war was not a solution to the Afghanistan conflict. He said the solution lied in intra-Afghan dialogue.
Earlier, the Taliban’s political office in Qatar had reported contacted the HIA leader, but Saeed said he was not aware of it.
After arriving in Kabul, Hekmatyar in his address to a gathering in the Presidential Palace called the Taliban as brothers and invited them to join the peace process. (Pajhwok)
