Kabul Ready to Help Free Pakistani Children

ISLAMABAD - Afghanistan is ready to help release the children kidnapped two weeks ago from the tribal region of Bajaur, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan said on Saturday.
Pakistani Taliban abducted 25 children from the agency and transferred them to Afghanistan's eastern province of Kunar.
Initially, Pakistani officials and media outlets blamed Afghan Taliban for the abduction. Later, the Pakistani Taliban leader in the area claimed responsibility for the kidnappings.

Ambassador Mohammad Omar Daudzai told Pajhwok Afghan News they were ready to help release the children. They understood Pakistan's concerns and were in contact with Kabul on the issue, he said.

President Hamid Karzai had directed Kunar officials and tribal elders to take serious action on the issue, the diplomat said, adding that he himself talked to Governor Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi. The governor promised all possible assistance in this regard.
