WB to Give $200m for Urban Development

KABUL - The World Bank will offer $200 million for the sustainable urban development of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Urban Development (MRRUD) says.
The aid would be used for the preparation of strategic plans for urban development, MRRD officials say. $20 million of the assistance will be presented to government to meet initial needs for studies.
Nilofar Langar, spokesperson for the ministry, says: “In line with the programme, we will develop strategic plans for cities and to know about economic needs of each city...”
At a meeting with Minister Naderi, World Ban operation head Ms Anna Woelnvstein has promised playing a greater role in Afghanistan’s urban development sector. (Pajhwok)
