KABUL - Since its establishment in October 2015, the charity foundation ‘Help For Afghan Heroes’ has managed to reach a number of families of the fallen members of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).
As part of its initiative for supporting the families of fallen soldiers, the foundation has been helping the families of the fallen veterans in key fields, including education for their children and providing legal services and employment opportunities to them.
The foundation says the initiative is aimed at removing the sense of deprivation among the wounded officers and families of the fallen soldiers for them to continue leading normal lives.
Ali Akbar was serving in the ranks of the Afghan National Army (ANA). He lost his legs during a routine mission. Now he works in the Help For Afghan Heroes Foundation.
“We succeeded in the granting of 85 scholarships for the families of the martyrs and disabled members of the security forces,” said Ali Akbar, head of social relations department of at Help For Afghan Heroes Foundation.
“Over a hundred families of martyrs and disabled soldiers have been registered within the foundation. We are trying to help these families,” said Mohammad Ali Afzali, a member of the foundation.
Matiullah Sahil also served in the ranks of Afghan National Army (ANA). He lost both his legs in a mine explosion in Zherai district of southern Kandahar province.
“We want wounded soldiers to realize that we faced similar situations. But now we live normal lives. We are trying to motivate such families and wounded men to also live normal lives,” said foundation member Matifullah.
Mansour Faqiri served in the Afghan National Police. He lost his legs during an IED explosion in Kabul. He called on the government to focus on the plight of wounded officers.
“There was an emergency situation, we were ordered to stay in our position, but an IED had been planted in our vehicle and I lost my legs,” said Faqiri.
